Lemekeza Mokiwa

Program and Business Manager

Lemekeza Hamilton Mokiwa serves as the Programs and Business Development Manager for OSSEDI Malawi, where he provides strategic oversight in Program Quality Assurance, Knowledge Management, and Learning. As the organization’s technical lead for Climate Justice and Food & Nutrition Security, Lemekeza drives resource mobilization and spearheads the design of high-impact programs focusing on climate resilience and ecosystem-based adaptation.

With over 20 years of experience in the humanitarian and development sectors, Lemekeza possesses deep technical expertise in managing carbon avoidance and removal projects, land restoration, and agroforestry initiatives designed to boost smallholder productivity. His background includes holding senior leadership and regional technical advisory positions where he supported multi-country portfolios in Southern Africa. He has extensive experience leading the development of large-scale funding proposals including Green Climate Fund (GCF) initiatives and ensuring compliance with complex donor standards.

A recognized voice in global climate advocacy, Lemekeza currently serves as the Global Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Chairperson for the 10-country LDC LIFE-AR initiative. He regularly represents the development sector at high-level international forums, including COP27, Africa Climate Week, and UN Climate Meetings (SB60), contributing to negotiations on Climate Finance, Adaptation, and Loss and Damage.

Lemekeza holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management (2012) from the University of Derby (UK). He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1997) and a Diploma in Civil Engineering (1995) from the University of Malawi, as well as Diplomas in French Language (DELF).
