Dr. Stanley J.Z. Chitukwi

Dr. Stanley J.Z. Chitukwi is the Chief Executive Officer and Founding Executive Director of the Organization for Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Initiative (OSSEDI), operating across Malawi and Zambia. A visionary executive leader, Dr. Chitukwi is the driving force behind the organization’s strategic direction, overseeing its expansion and ensuring its transformative impact on the region. He provides high-level oversight in strategic planning, financial management, and resource mobilization, serving as the principal representative to government bodies, international development partners, and corporate boards.

With a distinguished track record in strategic management and public health, Dr. Chitukwi specializes in designing long-term development strategies that align with national and global goals. He is a champion of climate action and environmental sustainability, advancing resilience through innovative carbon sequestration initiatives. His work integrates carbon removal projects such as large-scale agroforestry and land restoration with carbon avoidance efforts like improved cookstoves, directly linking environmental sustainability to poverty reduction, food security, and gender equality.

Dr. Chitukwi’s influence extends to high-level advisory and governance roles where he helps shape policy on a national and continental scale. He currently serves as a Technical Advisor for the UNCCD Malawi Chapter and is a Steering Member for both the Restore Africa initiative and DAI Global UK. Additionally, he has contributed his expertise as a Board Member for the Malawi Health Equity Network.

Dr. Chitukwi holds a Doctorate in Development Studies and an Honorary Doctorate in Development Studies and Public Health. He has completed the Advanced Health Management Programme at the Yale School of Public Health and is a Fellow of the African Institute of Public Administration in Ghana.
