Restore Africa Project (RESAF)

The Restore Africa Project is a five-year, multi-country consortium initiative led by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in partnership with CARE, World Vision, Total Land Care, Self-Help Africa, CADECOM, and OSSEDI Malawi. It spans seven districts in Malawi (with OSSEDI Malawi focusing on Machinga and Zomba Districts), with parallel implementation in Uganda and Kenya. The project combats climate shocks, land degradation, and low carbon stocks for smallholder farmers, targeting 27,000 households to build resilience. OSSEDI is supporting the restoration of 11,222 hectares and planting 1,570,000 trees using Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) and evergreen agriculture techniques. These interventions will enhance ecosystem services, generate certified carbon credits, strengthen community governance, and improve livelihoods.
